		<description>This is such a critical step in improving the overall quality of leadership everywhere. And you are right on when you say that so often people are left to &quot;sink or swim&quot;. 

At the risk of overdoing the metaphors, failing to provide new leaders with the support and guidance they need to become, at minimum, proficient, is like giving them the keys to your car without knowing whether they can even turn on the engine.
